Joe has been a social service practitioner for the past two decades, specializing in working with children and youth in the Singapore social service sector. Joe enjoys the challenges and thrills of this work starting as a social worker working with troubled individuals, families and institutions to eventually pioneering the youth service of REACH Community Services Society (Singapore) for many years, reaching out to an average of 800 individuals and families per month all across Singapore. Joe specializes in working with youth at risk from different segments of the population, ranging from the community to diversionary programmes and to institutionalized youth.
His training in social work helps to provide a systemic perspective to complex human issues and problems. He is also trained in the Solution Focused Approach in therapy and coaching which helps to provide a unique way of looking at individuals across the different spectrum of needs and contexts using a good integrative approach of social work, therapy and coaching with the clients that he works with.
Today, Joe is in private coaching practice as the Founder and Director of Ark of Hope Pte Ltd, providing coaching, training and supervision to empower and equip families and young people to resolve their own issues and work towards discovering their life purpose.
He is also the author of “Youth Lenses”, “From Rat to Warrior” and a contributor to a number of books like “Solution Focused Practice in Asia, The Solution Focused Approach with Children and Young People and Solution Focused Practice Around the World”.
Joe is also a martial artist, currently training and learning Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) at Core Combat Chiang Mai Thailand.
